Subdivision Applicant Design
Project Description
GTS offers a full range of utility infrastructure engineering services for developers that would like to take control of their utility designs. Developers that take the applicant design option are able to construct and connect their utility systems much quicker through GTS’ use of concurrent engineering. In addition, applicant design lets the developer control the placement of the electric facilities. This ensures transformers and boxes will not burden premium lots like the traditional cookie cutter electric design utilized by utilities.
GTS Involvement
GTS provides applicant utility design throughout central and northern California. During the construction peak of 2007, GTS was preparing gas utility designs for more than 6000 residential and commercial lots a year. This represented more than100 projects ranging in size from 8 to 300 lots, and ultimately the design of more than 50 miles of plastic and steel gas main. GTS also provided electric subdivision design and joint trench composite engineering, including preparing the Form B, for more than 600 lots. GTS maintains a first-time utility design approval rate of greater than 80 percent.
