Transmission Pipeline Replacement
GTS has experience designing pipeline replacement projects for small and large gas operators across the US for over 20 years. We provide our clients INNOVATIVE engineering solutions to tackle their challenging projects. Our experience includes projects with: environmentally sensitive areas, congested public rights-of-way, under large bodies of water or highways, remote or steep terrain and challenging tie ins with complicated gas outages. We understand the importance of meeting project deadlines and staying on budget, and by follow our developed systematic approach in managing a project from pre-planning to As-Built.
Please refer to our “Key Projects” section below for various project examples that highlight GTS’ pipeline replacement expertise.
Key Projects
Milpitas Elbow Replacement
GTS can quickly adapt to changing project conditions and scopes. This project included providing engineering services for the removal and upgrade of a 24-inch OD short radius elbow that was under the shoulder of a highly traveled California highway. The short radius elbow required replacement in order to accommodate passage inline inspection tools. After designing the cut out of the elbow, the city did not grant the permit as they did not want to close the shoulder of the freeway. GTS worked closely with the city and the pipeline operator to identify a design solution, consisting of a jack and bore, that allowed for mitigation of the elbow while meeting the requirements of all stakeholders.
SLO County 10" Replacement
GTS provided engineering services for a 2.8-mile replacement of 10-inch transmission pipeline in San Luis Obispo, California. Project highlights included one (1) mainline valve set installation, three (3) shallow bores, bridge-suspended pipe installation and strength testing of new and existing pipe to establish complete records.
