Summary: This presentation will highlight Engineering best practices along with interesting challenges and outcomes from a large sampling of horizontal directional drillings (HDD’s) designed and constructed across the county. A combined perspective of pipeline and geotechnical Engineering will provide interesting insight as complex geometry, lengthy and challenging condition HDDs, and lessons learned are explored.

Regulator Station Review Program (RSRP): Date Collection & Asset Health Scoring

Summary: This presentation will cover how asset knowledge is at the forefront of Operators’ priorities and decision making. Regulator stations are of particular focus due to recent natural gas incidents. These incidents have brought to light a lack of asset data necessary to ensure safe operation of existing systems. In establishing RSRP and performing comprehensive data collection, Southern Company Gas is enhancing their understanding of existing systems and identifying opportunities to bring stations in alignment with current and best practices.

Summary: Join this presentation for recommendations for Utility Operators to effectively identify and manage pipeline populations. These recommendations include targeted and opportunistic dig site selection, destructive testing and non-destructive testing capabilities, data interpretation and conflict resolution, evaluation of ILI tool run data, and associated documentation and procedures for updating the system of record.

Paradigm Shift, A Highly Diverse Organization

Summary: Currently, suppliers are identified as being diverse if they are certified as a Woman Business Enterprise (WBE), Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), or a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE). GTS suggests a paradigm shift to recognize suppliers as a Highly Diverse Organization if the make-up of their employee base meets certain criteria.
